OUR EXPANSION

+BEGINNINGS
In 1993, Calvary San Luis Obispo [SLO] was born. Pastor Bryan Stupar and his wife planted this church with the hopes of forming a body of believers who are commited to the Lord and desire to transform the culture through the gospel. San Luis Obispo is located along California's beautiful coastline, centrally located directly between San Fransisco and Los Angeles. The city boasts a medium sized population of 45,000 residents and is home of the respected Cal Poly University.

+STUDENT IMPACT
Thousands of students pass through our city from all over the country for 3-5 years, with the purpose of earning an education and the hopes of charting a future. Many of these students end up discovering God's redemption and are transformed by His love, through the cross. Calvary SLO has been uniquely blessed to be a major part of this process, as hundreds of students make their way through our church and after graduation go out into the culture to bring transformation within the progressive workforce. As well, it has been a joy to see many young people feel called to venture into full time ministry as missionaries and pastors both globally and domestically. It's estimated that every 3-4 years between 50-65% of our church is completly replenished with a brand new group of people. Needless to say, there are many young people in our congregation, full of energy wanting to be directed by God.

+COMMUNITY IMPACT
Having a desire to be a blessing where ever we are placed, we have always looked for opportunities in front of us to do just that.  One such example of an ongoing ministry to our community has been Big Buddies.  Several years ago we partnered with Hawthorne Elementary School with the purpose of helping out some of the kids that were either "at risk", or just needing an older friend/role model to spend some time with.

+GROWTH
In spite of the high turn over rate of students, Calvary SLO has grown steadily over the past several years in a wider spectrum of ages, with the second highest group being, young families. We have met in several locations, starting in a home, then to a rented church, an elementary school auditorium and we are currently in the process of moving to a more permanent location.

+THE EXPNANSION
As of early December we have officially signed the lease to a large warehouse, (16,000 sq. ft.) located just a few miles from SLO's downtown and the Cal Poly campus. Previously, 10,000 sq. ft. of this property had been used and built out by another church, of which we were able to take immediate occupancy, and begin working on the much needed upgrades and investments to the flooring, paint, children's ministry rooms and new seating. There is another 6000 sq. ft. adjacent to this building that we will begin the expansion of the sanctuary as soon as the permits and plans are approed by the city.

+STEWARDS OF GOD'S BLESSINGS
It has always been our desire to be good stewards of what has been given to us. This building is viewed as a tool that has been gifted by God, for His glory. Over the years we have been asked by people, from those who've gratuated to their parents how they could be a part of assisting us when we've moved to a permanent location. One of the most beautiful ways in which God works is through the generosity of His people contributing joyously to His plans. This has been the pattern from the building of the temple to the relief aid given to the saints in Jerusalem. This work requires God's faithfulness both supernaturally and naturally via His saints. If you would like to be apart of this project by helping out financially you can do so here.
