All people worship
Worship is the worth we attribute, or value we place upon an object or person, which natuarally leads to the devotion of our time, energy and money.
Knowing that our hearts are wired in such a way, Paul the apostle wrote in Romans 11:36-12:2 "For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be glory forever. Amen! I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind."
His appeal is for us to be worshippers of the Living God and not other things (idols). Worship in not merely singing, although this arises naturally out of the affections we have in our hearts. Worship, at its heart is about what we devote ourselves most passionately to.
Because one of the most expressive and natural expressions of what we are passionate about is singing, we do devote a significant amount of time to it in our services.
As with anything we do, we desire this to be done well and skillfully. If you have musical giftings from God and would like to use them to lead others into worship please contact Ryan Delmore, CSLO's Worship Pastor.
