BIG BUDDIES
One ministry that we are particularly excited about is the Big Buddies Mentoring Program. This program exists in order to help fill a need that exists at the core of our community: at-risk children in single-parent homes who need a positive adult role-model in their life. This is a cooperative effort with other non-profit community groups, including Grace Church of SLO, First Baptist Church of SLO and Family Care Network, Inc. The program development team consists of pastors and volunteers from these churches along with representatives from the Family Care Network. The ministry is specifically focused on mentoring at-risk youth ages 6-17. These children primarily come from Hawthorne Elementary School and from within the various churches, however other families will be considered on a case by case basis according to our ability to accommodate them.
