Internships

INTERNSHIP PROGRAM
One of the responsibilities of the church is to “Equip the saints for the work of the ministry.” Calvary SLO is committed to raising up new leaders and one of the intentional ways we pursue this is through our Internship Program.

This is an opportunity to grow in your leadership, calling and intimacy with Jesus. You will be stretched, challenged and encouraged - emotionally and spiritually - and we firmly believe when people step out in faith, Jesus moves through them.

WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE
The Internship can be adapted according to your availability to be a little as 1 day a week or as much as full-time. You will be given a primary ministry area to serve in, but will experience local church ministry in a variety of contexts. Your time will be split between 2 focuses: learning and development through a weekly class, some light homework and meetings with leaders and peers; and growth and experience through service in your primary ministry area, which we hope will suit both your gifts, and the church's needs. If accepted, you’ll be required to:

  • Get a background check (this is typical with all our ministry volunteers).
  • Live a Godly lifestyle as described in 1 Timothy 3:2-13.
  • Be responsible for your own vehicle/transportation to all intern functions and volunteer hours, for your own phone and laptop (activities may include technology).

HOW LONG IS THE INTERNSHIP?
The internship runs from late September 2019 to May 2020

HOW MANY HOURS A WEEK WILL IT REQUIRE?
A typical week involves serving on Sundays (7:30am-12:30pm) along with a weekly internship huddle to discuss reading/listening assignments. You should expect to invest around 7-10 hours per week. (Approximate hours: Sunday Services: 5 hrs. | Huddle: 2 hrs. | Assignments: 1-3 hrs.) Aside from the above expect to be a key part of the team which coordinates/leads/serves at the Easter services.

DOES IT COST ANYTHING AND/OR WILL I GET PAID
Though the cost of discipleship is great, this Internship is free, the main cost being your investment of time and energy. There will be some financial costs associated w/ certain materials/books. This internship is unpaid.

WHO CAN BE AN INTERN?
Though this is mainly geared for those (male/female) between the ages of 16-30 years old and who consider Calvary SLO their home church, we would be open to those older and or in other stages of life..talk to us!
